From Gross to Great: Garbage Removal Tips

Home Renovation: How to Load Your Skip Bin and Fit the Most Waste In

When you have hired a skip bin for a renovation project, it is essential to make sure that you get the most out of it. This entails ensuring that most if not all of your waste fits in the bin. Since you rented a bin that's appropriately sized for the amount of waste you expect to generate, the last thing you'd want is to spend more money on an extra skip. Remember, overfilling a bin is not recommended, and most companies will charge you extra for it. With this in mind, you can follow the following tips when loading your bin to ensure that you fit the most in.

Wait until the last day

It is best to wait until the last day of your project to load your bin. The reason for this is that you need to categorize the waste to ensure correct loading. If you put items in the bin from the first day, they may not all fit, and this may force you to unload and start all over again. O avoid this, have all your waste from the renovation project in one place and put it in the skip bin once you are done.

Place flat items at the bottom

Are there any flat items from your project? These should be at the bottom of the bin. Ensure that they sit properly and are not resting on the side of the bin as this will leave a cavity underneath. Next, you can have large items such as furniture that you need to dispose of from your home. For furniture pieces such as tables, you can place them facing upwards so that they balance correctly in the bin. Also, this will allow you to pack smaller items around and inside the larger ones.

Pay attention to items with storage space

If you are disposing of cabinets, vanities, or even a refrigerator, you should maximize the storage spaces inside. Place them in the bin in such a way that the doors can easily open so that you can put smaller waste items inside. Consider breaking up some things to make them smaller so that they can occupy as little space as possible in the skip bin. For instance, furniture and pieces made of timber can easily be broken into manageable pieces.

Finally, remember to fill the bin only up to the top rim as recommended by the skip hire company to facilitate smooth transportation. If the waste doesn't fit, you can always rent another smaller bin to avoid extra charges. Ensure that during the next project, you hire a skip bin that's slightly bigger than the amount of waste you expect to generate.
